Shuttle has introduced an Android 4.2.2 mini-PC with 6.26W consumption, 4GB of flash with SD expansion, plus WiFi, HDMI, GbE, RS232, and four USB ports.

The mini-PC is selling for 131 euros, or $176, with 1GB of DDR3 RAM and 4GB of flash storage. Available with VESA mounting, the DSA2LS supports digital signage, POS, automation, monitoring, thin client, remote access, and media player applications, says Shuttle.

The DSA2LS runs a pre-installed Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with integrated online or offline update functionality on a dual-core, 1GHz Freescale i.MX6 DualLite system-on-chip. The SoC has a Vivante GC880 GPU that’s not as powerful as the Vivante GC2000 GPU found on the Dual and Quad i.MX6 models, but it still plays back 1080p video and offers 3D graphics acceleration. The power-sipping DualLite enables the fanless computer to run at a modest 6.26W active and 1.42W standby, according to Shuttle’s AnTuTu benchmarks.
The steel-constructed, 190 x 142 x 35mm device supports up to 64GB of storage with a theft-protected SDHC card reader. The unit ships with both HDMI and VGA ports. Dual display capability is provided, although in that case, video resolution is halved to 720p. The device has WiFi built-in, along with an optional antenna, and also offers a gigabit Ethernet port. Additional I/O includes four USB 2.0 ports, including one mini-USB device port. You also get an audio jack and an RS-232 serial port.
The DSA2LS features a Kensington lock hole and VESA mounting, with numerous threaded holes available for alternative mounting configurations. A 10W internal supply helps avoid cable clutter, and an Always-ON switch designed for use in “inaccessible environments,” starts the machine as soon as it is connected to the power supply, says Shuttle.
