Getting Started:
Congratulations.
So you want to run Windows XP on your Android device. The process is
pretty easy and only takes around 30 minutes, but the time may vary
depending on your computer speed. To get started, you will need to have
a .iso format of Windows XP. If you have your windows' disc, then you
could use programs such as ISOBurner to make an ISO from it. After you have that all figured out, continue to download the rest of the items below.
What you'll need
- Bootable .iso copy of Windows XP
- Qemu Manager for you PC
- Bochs for Android
- Blank Image Disk (This is how you create it:
1. Open up Bochs for PC and run bximage.exe -> you can find bximage here C:/Program Files/bochs/ | depends on where you have installed it.
2. Create a Image with following: hd, flat, 1500, c.img
hd: It is the format of your boot disk. | fd will create a bootable floppy disk image. For some odd reasons you can use with win 3.11 or something like that.
flat: It means that it has a fixed size.
1500: It is the size of your Image. | you need around 1,5 gb disk space, because the installation of winxp, even you edit it with nlite, wont let you use lower disks -.- , i am trying to solve that problem.
c.img: It is the name of your Image. | choose the name like you want to, but dont forget to edit the bochsrc.txt, else it wont start.
notice: Maybe you have to run bximage.exe as Admin. - SDL.zip
Step 2: Setting up the Virtual Machine:
First,
on your computer open up Qemu manager. (Start-All Programs- Qemu
Mnager). Go to the tab that says VM and click "Create New Virtual
Machine" Give it a name, click next. For ram space, generally between
512mb to 1gb is good. This is the ram space it will utilize while you
install it on your pc, nothing to do with the ram that will be available
on your phone. Afterwards click finish.
Step 3: Installing Windows to the Blank IMG File
Now,
in Qemu Manager, you need to specify the blank img file to use for HD0
(Hard Drive Zero). Go to the drives tab, then HD0 and find the "c.img"
you created earlier; hit okay. Now go to the CDROm option and search
for your Windows XP.iso file. Once you find it, hit okay. Then go to
the little green arrow at the top, and click it (Run Button). Boom it
should be running!
Step 5: Transfer IMG File to your Device
Great,
now that Windows XP is installed on the IMG file, you're ready to
transfer it to your phone. Connect your phone in USB storage mode (or
MTP). Transfer your C.img file to the SDL folder that you extracted to
your device in Step 1.
Step 6: On your Phone
Make
sure that you downloaded Bochs either from the links above or the
Google Play Store. Launch it. If all goes well Windows XP should boot
up. Give it a second as it's not the fastest thing to work with. And
there you have it; feel free to leave any comments down below.
