Review of the Ainol Mini PC with Windows 8.1 from Gearbest

Hi guys,

In this article i' m gonna review another Windows 8.1 powered Mini PC from Gearbest which you can buy for 97$. It's the ultra portable Ainol Mini PC and lets get to it

What's in the Box
It comes in a nice stylish grey package and inside we get:

• The Ainol Mini PC itself
• The Power Adapter
• A MiniHDMI Cable
• A User Manual
• A Warranty Booklet
• A Quality Control Pass Certificate Card

Looks & Ports

The device has a black colour with a matte feel on the hand and it consists of aluminium and plastic

On the top it's plain black and we see nothing more than the Ainol logo

On the bottom i's also plain black and we only see the device's rating which is 5V 2.5A as well as the Serial Number, on the sides there is a nice white pattern drawn to it

Looking at the front we find 

• a blue operation led
• 2 USB 2.0 ports
• The power On/Off button

And on the back side we get 

• The DC input
• A 3.5mm Headphone Jack
• The MiniHDMI output
• A MicroUSB OTG
• A MicroSD card slot

It's very compact and you can see that by it's dimensions

146mm x 115mm x 14mm as well as it's weight which is 485g

Software & Technical Specifications
The device is running the certified Windows 8.1 (32-Bit) and according to CPU-Z it has some pretty powerful specs which are

• CPU: 64 Bit Quad Core Intel Atom BayTrail Z3735F running at 1.83 Ghz MAX
• GPU: Intel HD Graphics
• RAM: 2 GB DDR3L
• Internal Storage: 32 GB
• WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
• Bluetooth 4.0

We can have the Metro UI where we can run the Windows apps we install from the store and modify the tiles and theme of the launcher as well as use 2 apps at the same time and search everything we want in the system or use the classic windows desktop where we can run multiple apps at the same time, add app shortcuts in order to have easier access and of course go to the control panel to modify the system settings and control various system aspects

Everything run very smooth and fast and browsing the internet with this device is a pleasant experience

Benchmarks

To show you the power of the Ainol Mini PC i ran some benchmarks

GFXBench couldn't be completed for some reason but here you can see the results of the tests that were finished successfully

Next is 3D Mark which scored 8036 points for the Ice Storm Extreme and 14569 points for the Ice Storm Unlimited

and lastly i tested the read and write speeds of the internal ssd storage

Throughout the tests the device was relatively hot to the touch with the temperature ranging from 60 to 88 degrees Celcius 

Kodi & Video Playback

Kodi run very smooth as we would expect and the test videos didn't have frame drops or other problems

You can even run BluRay isos with their menus

All the videos ran from an external 1 TB 2.5'' HDD without the need for a seperate power supply

Gaming

Gaming is good on the Ainol Mini PC and you can find a variety of games at the Windows Store or play other platform games through emulators

You can of course play standard games with low system requirements but don't expect to play the newer games like Shadow of  Mordor, Farcry 4 etc because you will be dissapointed and it's normal because these kind of games are designed to run on much higher specced gaming PCs

External wireless gamepads like Dual Shock 4 are supported as well as keyboards and mouses

Battery and PowerBank Capabilities

The Ainol Mini PC is equipped with a 7000 mAh battery which will give you many hours of operation time 

You can also use it to charge your favourite gadgets on the go and it works much better from the Beelink Pocket P1 in that field

Wifi Perfomance

The WiFi reception is good and i didn't experience disconnections and dropouts

Conclusion

The Ainol Mini PC is a great device that replaces your Desktop PC and since it has a built it battery you can have all your documents and files with you everywhere you go

It's portability and long battery life make it a must have gadget and i totally recommend it to you guys
