Greetings to all of you,
The latest trend in the Mini PC market are Windows 8.1 powered devices. Gearbest now sells the Beelink Pocket P1 for the very low price of 107$ using the DISCOUNT COUPON CODE: BP1. Note that for this price you get a full fledged Windows 8.1 PC
What's in The Box
The Beelink Pocket P1 comes in a small elegant package which has some of the best features of the device written on it which are:
Hardware & Ports
The device has a great build quality and it is made by aluminium and plastic, it also feels great in the hand and it's very compact and slim
On the top we see the Beelink and the Intel logos
On bottom we have nothing
On the front we also have nothing
And on the back we find a variety of port that include:
Software
As i mentioned earlier the Beelink Pocket P1 is running the certified Windows 8.1 with Bing
This means that you can use it as full fledged compact desktop PC and do everything you did with your own PC
We have the classic Metro UI where we can arrange our tiles the way we like or even add more applications to the home screen and use 2 of them at the same time
On the top right corner we have the user icon from where we are able to change the account picture, lock or sign out
We can also access all our apps very easy or use the search to find anything we want in the system
Switching to the classic Desktop we are introduced with the familiar Windows interface from where we can do every possible thing we can think of, from opening multiple apps at the same time, browsing the internet, editing documents, downloading apps from the Windows store and more
Benchmarks
I ran some benchmarks to see the device's performance
GFX Bench gave me good enough results
And 3D Mark scored 8624 points
I also tested the read and write speeds and i got
The Beelink Pocket P1 became very hot while performing heavy tasks like playing games but with normal usage it was slightly warm
WiFi reception is very good and i had no problems with low speeds and disconnections
Kodi & Video Playback
Kodi runs great on this device and the test videos I tried ran with absolutely no problems
PowerBank Capabilities
One great feature is the fact that you can use the Beelink Pocket P1 as a PowerBank to charge your smartphone, tablet or other gadgets on the go. Unfortunately (at least at my unit) this feature didn't work very well and i couldn't charge my gadgets because it seemed like the device couldn't provide enough power to do so and it only provided charge for a few seconds, but as i said the unit i was sent could be faulty because the battery wear level according to HW Monitor was 38%
Gaming
You can download and play your favourite games from the Windows store but don't expect games like Crysis 3 or Farcry to run well because they are designed for higher specced gaming PCs
External gamepads or Keyboard and mouse can be used to play these games and enhance your experience, but as i mentioned before the device gets very hot during gameplay
Conclusion
The Beelink Pocket P1 is a great and very compact device replacing your desktop pc for most of the tasks you want to execute
It's size and built in battery render it very pocketable and it can be your full fledged desktop pc companion where you can take everywhere with you and even charge your devices from it's built in battery when they need more juice
